Hypatia’s Theory is the third single from Batuk’s 2020 release, Again She Reigns, an epic Grrl Power celebration of 8 legendary women in African history. Hypatia’s Theory is a tribute to the spirit of the genius ancient philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician Hypatia.

On this latin tinged vocal house jam, Batuk takes us on their rocket ship to explore one of the oldest mysteries in the world: love. Manteiga sweetly conjures up images of the cosmos, with her impassioned lyrics and call to love. This song asks the epic universal questions that often leave us all “in the dark”. Spoek Mathambo’s production answers Manteiga’s astrological questions, with a robust, but fun beat for all seasons.

AC La Clim’s remix takes lady Hypatia on a synth driven, afro deep house detour, where his trance inducing looping of Manteiga’s dreamy vocal, elevates a selection of lyrics to new heights. The remix is a slightly weirder, deeper, mellow companion to the in-your face original version.
